These substrates include colorless, reduced chromogenic substrates (e.g., DAB, TMB, ABTS), chemiluminescent substrates (e.g., luminol), and fluorescent substrates (e.g., Amplex Red). Upon incubation with these substrates, HRP produces a colored, luminescent, or fluorescent product, allowing quantification through colorimetric, luminescent, or fluorimetric detection methods.

    HRP can be conjugated to antibodies using several techniques, such as glutaraldehyde, periodate oxidation, disulfide linkage, or amino- and thiol-directed cross-linkers.
